| Frequently
Asked Questions
Q: How do I know that you will be able to help?
We will follow up your initial enquiry by phone, e-mail or
in writing in order to determine whether we think we can help.
We may ask you to send us reports on your child to assist
us in making this decision. We will not be able to help if
the needs of your child or the services you are seeking are
beyond our expertise or specialisms. If this is the case,
we will try to direct you elsewhere for advice.
Q: If you are able to help what happens next?
Once we have determined that we are able to help we will send
you an information pack explaining how to proceed and asking
you to provide us with additional information which will help
us prepare to work with your child.
Q: How much will it cost?
This will depend on the extent of our involvement and will
be worked out and agreed with you in advance. Our rates are
in line with those recommended by our respective professional
associations and will reflect our level of experience and
expertise, and the benefits of joint and inter-professional
assessment.
Q: What if I already have some recent assessment reports?
We tailor individual assessments according to the information
which you provide to us. We are able to conduct single discipline
assessments e.g. Speech and Language Therapy only, if appropriate.
Q: Where will you conduct the assessment?
At our base in Kenilworth, Warwickshire (see
map and directions). This enables us to create an environment
which is comfortable for your child to work in and which offers
privacy for discussions with you.
Q: How long does
the assessment take?
We aim to gather all the information during a one-day or at
most, two-day visit to our base.
Q: Do you attend special educational needs tribunals
or court hearings?
Our reports are written to enable parents to submit them to
Tribunals, but we do not attend hearings ourselves.
We prefer to work in partnership with other service providers
and would be happy to attend mediation meetings with you and
your Local Education Authority, for example.
