Assessments

PoLARTALK assessments usually involve the following:

Identifying a pupil’s strengths and difficulties in Speech, Language and Communication. This can include both standardised testing and non-standardised procedures such as language and communication analysis
Evaluating other cognitive abilities as well as a pupil’s approach and attitude towards learning
Reviewing educational attainment, progress and barriers to learning
Collecting previous case history and background information
Interviewing parents to gain their perspectives on their child’s strengths and difficulties
Determining the pupil’s own views on personal interests, strengths and difficulties
Where appropriate, additional assessment work can be arranged with an Occupational Therapist who is a specialist in Sensory Integration.
