About Us

PoLAR stands for PsychoLinguistic Assessment and Recommendations and PoLARTALK provides specialist, interdisciplinary assessments and recommendations for pupils who have difficulties with speech, language and communication. This includes pupils whose difficulties with social communication are associated with Autistic Spectrum Disorders such as Asperger’s Syndrome or other related conditions.

PoLARTALK brings together specialists from Speech and Language Therapy and Educational Psychology who work jointly or individually, as appropriate. The need for inter-professional collaboration in the field of special educational needs is particularly important for those pupils whose needs are complex. This is especially the case in the area of assessment, where identifying the exact nature of a pupil’s needs is the critical first step towards future planning.

Although we feel confident that our joint and inter-professional assessments will provide a rich and holistic picture of your child’s needs, we are also happy to discuss individual assessments, or to collaborate with other professionals with whom you may have had contact.
